NPSA's 2022 3rd Annual Women at the Helm Race

 

Women at the Helm Registration/Race Details

The third annual Women at the Helm Race will be held on Saturday October 22nd. All vessels must be skippered by a female captain. Crews can be both male and female.

Registration:

  • Where to Register: Please register promptly before October 20th at 2022 NPSA W@H Registration

  • Boat Registration Fee: There is no entry fee to join the race and no charge for the Oktoberfest Luncheon. We are encouraging donations in any amount to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Personal checks are tax deductible and, as always, the boat that raises the most money will receive a special prize! Last year NPSA raised close to $1,000. We hope to meet and beat that amount this year!

  • Cash and Check Donations: You can bring Cash or Check to Elizabeth Sieber, before, at, or after the race.

  • Electronic Donations: Electronic donations can be made to Elizabeth Sieber on Venmo or PayPal. Please make sure to include a memo with your boat name and that it's for the 2022 Women at the Helm race

Classes:

  • There will be two classes: a non-spinnaker / doubled headsail class and a spinnaker class.

  • This will be a pursuit race based on the PHRF rating system. Each boat will have its own start time that will be shared prior to the race. 

Rendezvous:

  • 11:45 AM In the vicinity of Penwood buoy “8” (PW8) and the committee boat.


Signals:

  • The race committee will conduct a pursuit race. Every boat will have its own start time. One modification is the start will be based on a horn, not a flag. Every start will have its own horn. The race Committee boat will start racers based on GPS time. If there is a delay, time will be adjusted based on the delay time. The first boat will start 5 minutes after the first warning horn.

    -The first warning horn is at 12:00 PM

    -The first start is at 12:05 PM

After Race Oktoberfest Luncheon:

  • When and Where: Oktoberfest Luncheon and awards immediately after the race at the NPSA clubhouse located at Youngs Boat Yard. Space will be available to tie up.
