Club meeting
03 Mar 2010 |
Commodore Bill Kline opened the 2nd Spring Meeting at St. Luke's
Church 03/03/10. There were about 30 club members present,
including a new member, Bryan Fisher, who will be racing in
non-spinnaker class. Bill presented the schedule, including
popular bay races, and discussed racing with Rock Creek Racing
Association. The consensus is that we will invite them to
race with us for the 2nd series, and the Spinnaker Boats will be
encouraged to join RCRA for the 3rd series. NPSA will hold a
regular racing series for Class II and III. Spin boats that
do not want to race the 3rd series with RCRA can race
non-spinnaker with NPSA.
Two new officers were introduced to the club: Will White
will serve as Cruise Chairperson and coordinate some club cruises
this year; and Jerry McCann offered to coordinate and edit the
club's Newsletter.
Skippers were asked to sign up for Committee Boat Duty.
Those not signed up by next month will be assigned a Wednesday
night to assist with Committee boat duties.
Next meeting, April 7th is the mandatory Rules Meeting. ALL
those who would take the helm of a racing boat are required to
attend the rules meeting. Opening Day is planned for April
17th, and will include a "Boat 'for sale' Show, Nautical Flea
Market and cookout. All were reminded to pay their 2010
dues. Dues remained the same for 2010 - $30.00 for Skipper,
$20.00 for Crew, and a $25.00 racing fee for the boat. This
helps defray the costs of the committee boat.

The Committee Boat
Myth |
In October 2007, Myth was purchased by a group of NPSA members, affectionately called the "Myth-fits;" Will White, Jack Hurley, Skip Wallace, Don Bradley, and Doug Thomas. The NPSA Club is a "silent" 6th partner. The club will pay for the fuel and part of the annual maintenance and slip fee. To that end, the club will change $25.00 per boat to enter the club races. This is about $1.00 per race! |
| Membership Dues |
Last year, we had to increase the membership dues because of some increasing expenses of running the club. Dues increased $5.00 across the board. $30.00 for racing captains, $20.00 for crew and cruising members. This year, the dues are staying the same; however, we need to ask $25.00 "entrance fee" for each boat that races. The entrance fee helps cover some of the cost of operating the committee boat during the season. Please pay your dues at the club meetings. Also be sure to get your logon for the NPSAweb Blog. |
