"Loco Knowledge" by TFord on November 12, 2007, 1:19 pm, in category General
Great idea, Tom!

But, I have to remind you, this is a fleet that once witnessed the five lead spin boats sail right past the upwind mark (BC #2) and keep going for another mile, only turning back when we all noticed Phil, who was leading in Non-spinn, round the mark! The scary thing is, every one of the spinn boats had been sailing at NPSA for years and years…I have no idea why we all didn’t recognize #2, but I’m not sure these are people one wants to solicit for “local knowledg.....

"Winter meeting idea" by TDiffenbach on November 12, 2007, 10:57 am, in category General
I mentioned to Charlie that a segment of a winter meeting could be devoted to an open discussion of the "local knowledge" about our race courses.

What's the tidal path flow around North Point? When do you pick a wind shift tack over hanging in the Brewerton Channel to ride the current? How's the land change the wind off JAS point?

And maybe there can be more discussion about sailing practice versus theory? How much do you really need to take into account the wind sh.....

"NPSA is very alive!" by TDiffenbach on November 10, 2007, 3:13 pm, in category General
A past NPSA member, a sociologist, many years ago wrote a long piece on the development of NPSA.  Some new material could be added - which, for here, I'll keep simple.

Last nite the racing and the social aspects of the club came together in the very successful (and fast-paced) NPSA Awards dinner.  We've also seen the way some club members have kept Myth in the NPSA fold and others have added the Craighill Lighthouse and associated race into the NPSA fold.  .....

"Opening Day Cookout" by CRouse on April 22, 2007, 8:51 pm, in category General
Tom and Marcia did a GREAT job with the opening day cookout. They were assisted by Members of the cruising class.  Two new members signed up; so the club is still growing.  Over 50 people joined the club for lunch and the nautical flea market.  Thanks to all for making it a great success.  First race is Wednesday.  See you on the water!

April 11th was the last of our 3 pre-season club meetings. I want to thank all those who came and participated in the meetings. I hope it was educational, enjoyable, and sociable!  Thanks also to the Officers who kept things rolling!

Hope to see everyone on April 11th and at the Start line on the 25th.

"Gets the adrenaline going:)" by TDiffenbach on March 11, 2007, 10:55 pm, in category Racing
Six weeks until the first race, some snow and ice still around our Hbg, PA garden, and that race sunset pic shows up and gets the adrenaline going. Jack Hurley looks good, too.
